Pirate day for Class 1
The youngest children in our school enjoyed a visit to the local park to use the facilities which included a large pirate ship. Children and staff joined in the fun by dressing up to create an authentic pirate atmosphere. Children made their own packed lunches and selected favourite island fruit juices. Every member of the crew returned safely, just in time to go to the opera in the afternoon.
English Touring Opera - Midsummer's Nights Dream
The whole school was invited to the Northcott Theatre at Exeter University to see a children's opera, as performed by the English Touring Opera. All children had the chance to go along and enjoy this unusual spectacle and even our youngest pupils in Class 1 gained a huge amount from the visit.
Class 3 - Pirate Party with Mrs Skinner
Class 3 enjoyed a wonderful day with Mrs Skinner in Powderham where the children had a pirate drama day complete with pirate party and activities. A wonderful day was had by all.
Mother's day Assembly
Many parents joined us at our annual Mother's Day assembly where each class performed an endearing ditty in appreciation of their mums. All the children had a bunch of daffodils to give as a small token of their appreciation. Many parents were able to stay and enjoy a cup of tea with us before collecting their flowers and leaving for home.
Easter Egg Hunt
Many parents and pre-school siblings were able to join us for our Easter Egg hunt on the last day of term. Ethan Hwang was the lucky winner of the golden rabbit whilst all the other children were busy collecting as many chocolate eggs as possible. Hot cross buns and a cup of tea were available for everyone to enjoy. Mrs Kerr, with the help of Mrs Clarke and other parents, sold £265 worth of raffle tickets on the day for the beautiful baskets of Easter goodies Mrs Kerr very generously donated. The money will be going towards the provision of new books across the school.
World Book Day with author Andy Cutbill
The whole school took part in this year's themed book day based on Lewis Carroll's well-loved classic, Alice in Wonderland. Mr Andy Cutbill, author of a range of children's books, including the Albie stories, visited each class and discussed characters and read from some of his popular material. The children, all donning their Alice in Wonderland costume of choice, were invited to the Madhatter's Tea Party in the afternoon. Another wonderfully mad day at the New School.

“Miss Taylor, the teachers, and the teaching assistants encourage each child to work to their potential while keeping it fun. My daughter loves her school, loves her teachers, loves her friends, and loves learning.”
